To switch to compact mode, go to about:config
browser.uidensity = 1
xdg-settings get default-web-browser
Displays the default browser
xdg-settings set default-web-browser waterfox.desktop
Switches default browser to WaterFox
LibreWolf to Waterfox
I used LibreWolf for quite some time, but it crashed frequently so I made to jump to Waterfox in early 2026.
To copy all the preferences and bookmarks I opened about:profiles in LibreWolf, noted the active profile and located it in ~/.librewolf/. I then opened about:profiles in Waterfox, created a new profile, located it in the file browser and copied the contents from one to the other.
For the Firefox KeePass extension to work with Waterfox I symlinked /.mozilla/native-messaging-hosts to /.waterfox/native-messaging-hosts.
