A hopeful game about the beauty of wilderness and the destructive force of human civilisation.
Gibbon: Beyond the Trees is a game I co-created with Broken Rules in the role of the creative director. Players must master a dynamic movement system to swing, slide and somersault through a hand-painted jungle, experiencing the story of a lost gibbon searching for home amid rising devastation.
The concept for the game was started in early 2019 and went into pre-production in September of the same year. After three years and two production extensions, the game was finally released for Apple Arcade in Februray 2022. It made it's way to PC and Consoles in May 2022.
The art direction was developed by Catherine Unger.
