Defaults200724 | Going back to eleventy defaults.
Structure, navigation and sitemap
Initially, all of the content files were placed in folders according to the folder structure seen in the breadcrumb navigation at the top of the website:
nchrs/ - projects/ - games/ - viennaAllTomorrows.md - oldMansJourney.md - flywrench.md - .. - illustrations/ - inGoodCompany.md - grayscales.md - ..
I used the file name and path to build the navigation and sitemap, as I though it beneficial if the url path reflected the actual navigation path.
This turned out to be disatvantageous, especially when moving or renaming files and folders.
I decided to revert the structure back to the eleventy default, which means that most content files (except journal entries and albums) are located in the root of the source folder:
nchrs/ - projects.md - games.md - viennaAllTomorrows.md - oldMansJourney.md - flywrench.md - illustrations.md - inGoodCompany.md - grayscales.md
This also means that I'm using the navigation and sitemap plugins provided by eleventy again.
The navigation is now written in the front matter of each file:
--- navi: key: oldMansJourney parent: games ---
I also added a few extra items such as subtitles, path to a cover image, etc.
The source code of the templates can be found on Source Hut.
I haven't tackled any of the to do's from my previous journal entry yet.
Instead, I added quite a bit of new content:
I re-structured the About section into three parts (all still work in progress)
